It’s My Write is a poster series promoting events hosted by The American Writers Museum commemorating three writers who were fearless with their words and revered by the world, each honored with the Nobel Prize in Literature. Each writer simplified the complex whether by their style of writing or by their stories. Tagore introduced new prose to the traditional Sanskrit methods of writing, Marquez reported on real world stories through his career in journalism, and Morrison gave voice to the Black American experience. Each of these achievements required simplifying complex histories. My concept uses simple, monumentally sized letterforms of the author’s first and last name to house the detailed description of the event. Stacking the letters symbolizes the ability each writer had to build a better and brighter future through their work. Regarding color, a brilliant, bold red is used to emphasize the writers’ bravery, while creating an editorial feel reflecting their life’s work taking on written forms of art.
